Bridal Trends: How Wedding Dresses Are Evolving

by | Nov 6, 2025

One of the most exciting parts about getting married: picking the dress!

Whether you’re a traditional, Bridgerton-type girlie or a more contemporary bride, one thing continues to ring true: bridal trends are always changing.

But what can we expect in the next few years? Let’s dive into some of the upcoming fashion trends on the horizon for wedding dresses:

Non-Traditional Colors

While color is often cultural, there’s been a shift in mainstream Western culture recently where brides are going the atypical route and opting for something that isn’t white.

Non-traditional colors often better represent the bride’s personality. With themed weddings, colored dresses are often par for the course.

Whether it’s a black wedding dress for Halloween-lovers, or a blue dress for those re-living their Cinderella childhood fantasies, color continues to be a trend for gowns in the future.

Sustainable Fabrics

Wedding dresses are more often than not worn once. It’s no surprise, then, that in our newly climate-conscious world of fast fashion, sustainability is a major trend when it comes to bridal gowns.

You’ll find dresses made ethically and in more sustainable materials. For example, a dress may be crafted out of upcycled or recycled fabrics, or locally made instead of mass-produced in a factory.

Take designer Stella McCartney, for example, who’s been leaning into the charge.

More Skin

Recent runway shows for bridal gowns have something in common: they’re daring! Between high slits and “mini wedding dresses,” the brides of tomorrow are opting for a new look that demands attention.

Whether it’s peek-a-boo moments that make transitioning from the wedding to the reception easy with a single dress, or a shorter dress than the norm, this trend isn’t going away anytime soon.

The Drop Waist

We might have Bridgerton to thank for this, but drop waist corsets were all the rage during New York’s last Bridal Fashion Week.

Corsets, of course, are a homage to more traditional culture. With their emphasis on the waist and body proportioning, this trend is feminine and for the woman who wants to accentuate her shape.
